Domiciliary Physiotherapy is for patients who are aged 18+ and are housebound in their own home, residential home or nursing home. The team provides assessment, advice and treatment to people referred by their GPs in the mid Surrey area.
The Domiciliary Physiotherapy Service helps patients to reach and maintain the best level of independence they can, and to manage their condition(s) in their place of residence, whether it is their own home, residential home or nursing home. The team works with patients, carers, other agencies and professionals to help the patient achieve their optimum level of independence. The team uses the best available evidence to guide and inform their clinical practice.

On your first appointment the Physiotherapist will ask you questions about any difficulties you may have with mobility, and do a physical assessment to see how they can help you. You may wish to have a relative present to help answer questions or give relevant information.
Once they have completed the assessment, they will discuss the results with you. They will then agree some goals with you and develop a plan to achieve these.
The Physiotherapist will usually leave a list of exercises, activities or instructions for you to carry out at home. They will show you how to do these during their visit.
The frequency of treatment will depend on your needs. When your treatment is complete, you will be discharged from the service. However, the Physiotherapist will often leave written advice for you to continue following.
The team is happy to provide independent advice and help on any equipment you may wish to buy, so that you can continue your exercises after you have been discharged from the service.
