Reception and Year 6 Health Screening

We provide health screening within state schools as part of the National Child Measurement Programme. Your child's school nurse team will screen all Reception children (aged 4-5 years) to review their height, weight, vision and hearing (if required). Year 6 children (aged 10-11 years) have the opportunity for their height and weight to be reviewed. This is an optional service.

If you have any concerns regarding your child’s health and development while in school (for example, eating, sleeping, behaviour), please contact your school health team. If you are concerned about your child's hearing, please contact your health visitor/school nurse or GP.

"During his routine eye exam, one of the members of your team detected a problem with our son's eye. Your early detection means we have a referral to the consultant and hopefully treatment as soon as possible...Your check has proved invaluable to us and our son. We can’t thank you enough."
