Respiratory patients benefit from nebuliser donations

Monday 2 February 2015. The Leatherhead Lions Club has donated two nebulisers to the local NHS Respiratory Service run by CSH Surrey at Leatherhead Community Hospital.

The nebulisers were presented to Tricia McGregor, CSH Surrey Managing Director and Julie Dhami, lead respiratory nurse specialist, and her team at 12 noon on Monday 2nd February by Chris Barker, Chairman of the Leatherhead Lions Community Service Committee.

Nebulisers are used to help treat many different respiratory conditions. They turn liquid drugs into a vapour that patients can inhale through a face mask or mouthpiece.

CSH Surrey’s Respiratory Service supports approximately 800 patients a year with severe respiratory conditions either at home or in a clinic in the mid Surrey / Mole Valley area.

Tricia McGregor, Managing Director of CSH Surrey, says: “We are extremely grateful to the Leatherhead Lions Club for their very generous donation. With two extra nebulisers we will be able to help more patients with severe respiratory problems at home as well as in the local community.”

Chris Barker, Leatherhead Lions Community Services Chairman (left in picture), says: “We are delighted to have been able to present these two units for use in our local community. The cost of the equipment amounted to £350, a sum that has been raised from the various fundraising events held in the Mole Valley during the past year.”

Jim Malynn (right in picture), President of Leatherhead Lions Club adds: “The Lions recognise the generosity of the support given to us by local people, so it is always our wish to give back in kind whatever is of benefit to them. These nebulisers will be of great assistance in giving support to the excellent nursing care at our local hospital and in our community.”
