15 November 2014. The community beds from the New Epsom & Ewell Community Hospital (NEECH) that were temporarily moved to Croft Ward at Epsom General Hospital have moved back as planned to the refurbished inpatient ward at NEECH.
This follows an extensive planned refurbishment programme at NEECH where new flooring and lighting has been installed and modern, dementia-friendly facilities now result in a brighter, clearer environment that will provide better experiences for patients.
Fifteen patients relocated back to the refurbished ward on Saturday 15 November following planning and involvement with patients and their relatives to ensure minimal disruption.
The community beds were temporarily moved to Croft Ward at Epsom General Hospital in June so the planned refurbishment works at NEECH could be completed before winter. Surrey Downs CCG took this as an opportunity to explore a new way of delivering care to patients. The pilot involved patients receiving coordinated treatment from nursing, medical, therapist and social care teams during their stay and when they returned home. The CCG is now reviewing the results of the project.
The works at Poplars opposite NEECH are progressing well and all the services (neuro-rehabilitation, falls classes and MSK physio) are due to be moved back in early December.
