Wednesday 29 August 2018. Epsom based charity, Work Stress Solutions (WSS), is to benefit from a £4,000 grant from CSH Surrey in partnership with the Community Foundation for Surrey.
WSS helps vulnerable individuals gain skills for mainstream employment, education and voluntary work.
The £4,000 will go towards their GROW project, providing a series of workshops for those experiencing mental health problems and social exclusion. Designed to the needs each individual, the workshops provide interview preparation, volunteering opportunities, job search and CV help, and other techniques to enhance employment prospects.
WSS provides free services to anyone who is over 16, vulnerable, and lives within Surrey. The grant will support the development of additional courses. The new courses will complement the normal range, expanding the WSS client base to not just individuals, but organisations such as schools and businesses.
As mental health problems and pain are the two most likely causes of employment absence, the extended range of courses include pain management, exercise and healthy living, mental health first aid training and stress management in the workplace. Through the GROW project, WSS will be able to connect to a wider audience gaining deeper understanding between sectors of the community.
The CSH Surrey Community Fund will be awarded again in October. For more information on the Community Fund please visit www.cshsurrey.co.uk/about-us/community-fund.
