CSH Surrey recognises employee achievements as it celebrates 10 years of improving local community services

Wednesday 5 October 2016. We marked our 10th anniversary on 5th October 2016 with our annual awards ceremony (view the video). Clinical, admin and supporting teams were recognised in the award categories, which included outstanding adults and children’s nurses, therapists, clinical assistants, the rising star of the year and co-owner of the year.

Outstanding Children’s Therapist of the Year

The winner was Kate Green, an expert in Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy, pictured above with Kris and Rob Harvey, parents of a child she has worked with and who were invited to present the award.

The winner of this year’s Chair’s Cup was Vicky Kershaw, a physiotherapist who provides therapy for people who are housebound through their conditions and are unable to get to clinic appointments. The Cup is awarded to the person who, in the Chair’s opinion, epitomises all that is great about CSH Surrey and co-ownership. Vicky was recognised for her incredibly effective approach to patient care, helping patients, especially dementia patients, to achieve goals that they haven’t been able to achieve in months, sometimes years. Vicky was also this year’s Outstanding Adults’ Therapist of the Year.

CSH Surrey’s Chair, Bill Caplan, with Vicky Kershaw who won this year’s Chair’s Cup.

Suzanne Rankin, Chief Executive, Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust, who presented the Outstanding Adult Nurse of the Year award, says:

“I was absolutely delighted to be invited to attend the CSH Surrey 10th Anniversary Awards and to be given the privilege of presenting the Outstanding Adult Nurse of the Year Award. The room was filled with energy and a clear passion for giving the very best care to patients. The sense of pride and team cohesion was palpable and I felt very lucky to be in the presence of so many committed and talented healthcare professionals and other members of the CSH Surrey team.”

Peter Holbrook, CEO, Social Enterprise UK: “CSH Surrey should be hugely proud of its achievements over the last decade. Locally, they have achieved excellent results year-on-year, both commercially and in patient outcomes. More broadly, CSH Surrey has delivered on the promise of social enterprise, and blazed a successful trail followed by many others since: they are true pioneers. Co-ownership is at the heart of CSH Surrey and so the achievements of the last 10 years are therefore shared by everyone: we warmly congratulate them all and look forward to the next 10 years of success.”

EOA chief executive Deb Oxley said: "CSH Surrey is a stand-out example of the success that can be achieved in the public service mutual economy.  Through its long and productive relationship with the Employee Ownership Association (EOA), CSH Surrey has championed the growth and development of the employee ownership sector, and has been an active ambassador through activity including their annual celebration of Employee Ownership Day.  The Board and team of the EOA very much look forward to supporting the team into their next decade of employee ownership."
