CSH Surrey is delighted to announce the launch of its new website, www.cshsurrey.co.uk, designed to improve access to services, enhance user experience, and introduce a pioneering approach to sharing patient information.
A standout feature of the new site is the Patient Information Index, a digital library of leaflets that CSH staff can access, print, and share with patients.
Each printed leaflet includes a unique QR code that links directly to the digital version, allowing patients and carers to revisit the information anytime, anywhere.
Tom Smerdon, interim chief executive of CSH Surrey, said:
This shows how we’re meeting people’s needs for information in an inclusive way By bridging the gap between digital and print, we’re ensuring that no patient is left behind, while also empowering carers with easy access to vital information.

By bridging the gap between digital and print, we’re ensuring that no patient is left behind, while also empowering carers with easy access to vital information.
The system was developed in partnership with Volute, a specialist healthcare website development company, who worked closely with CSH Surrey to ensure the solution was both technically robust and user-friendly.
“We created a seamless workflow that adapts to any printer setup, embeds secure QR codes, and ensures accessibility across devices,” said Tim Ryan, Director of Volute.
“We also built a custom print style that optimises readability, even on low-quality mono printers, and developed tools to help CSH staff manage and update leaflets efficiently.”
Intelligent print layout design
The design ensures related content appears on the same page, reducing confusion and improving comprehension.
A family of custom-designed icons supports understanding, and the system is fully compliant with the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations.
Behind the scenes, a secure admin workflow allows staff to draft, review, and approve new leaflets before they go live, ensuring clinical accuracy and consistency.
The system also includes automation features to reduce future costs and streamline content creation.
“This is not just a website refresh,” added Tom Smerdon. “It’s a step forward in how we communicate with our patients and their families, making information more accessible, more reliable, and more connected.”
